Dean's a lot of fun to talk to as well as work with, so it's worth whatever they want to charge for it!Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03559138404570089435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27501132.post-1169139267917286772007-01-18T11:54:00.000-05:002007-01-18T11:54:00.000-05:00Dean Yeagle is just wonderful! You can certainly see the evidence of his animation experience in his cartoon illustrations - such a feeling of vitality that they just spring to life. In that respect his work reminds me of that other animator turned cartoon illustrator, Walt Kelly, though Dean's subject matter is rather, ahem, different than the denizens of the Okeefenokee. His "One Mandy Morning" is so animated to begin with, you could almost flip the pages and feel like she is in movement.

I actually show some of Dean's people sketches in my Character Design course as examples of how much you can caricature the face and figure to result in diverse and unique character "types". Both Dean and Stephen Silver are great contemporary cartoonists who I believe are well worth studying by anyone who wishes to pursue this artform. I would think that this online seminar that Dean will be doing in February would be very informative.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
