Here's a trailer I put together for the Student Animation Showcase, featuring the work of Sheridan College students. It's June 9 at 7 p.m. and again on June 10 at 9:30 at the Bloor Cinema, located at Bloor and Bathurst in Toronto. Admission is $5.
(If you're a Sheridan student, all the films in the trailer are in the screening, but there are additional films that are not in the trailer for various reasons. I'll be emailing everybody the list of films to be screened in the next few days.)
Anybody can purchase a ticket by walking up to the box office just before the screening and paying $5. This is open to the public, which is one of the reasons I decided to do it in the first place.
I'll post a list of the films and film makers within the next week.
There were so many terrific films from our 4th Year grads this year and I'm glad to see you're also screening select group films from 3rd Year as well. My preference is admittedly for traditional, hand drawn animation and I'm glad to see several of my favourites in your trailer, including films from Tapan Gandhi, Yuriy Sivers, Ben Hu, Brock Gallagher and Terri Sajecki, among others. I do find it strange though, that we now seem to be in an era where student films are so much better drawn and animated than the studio-produced animated TV series showing today. Shouldn't the reverse be the case? It saddens me to see so little animation being professionally produced (with real money behind it) that one can aspire to. But then maybe that's just the opinion of this ol' Cartoon Caveman...
How do none Sheridan people purchase tickets to this event?
ReplyDeleteWill you be posting a list of the films and creators names?

Some fabulous work there, Mark. Hope to see some of it at Ottawa this autumn!
